Prepare the Tomato Sauce
Finely chop half a white onion and sauté it in a pot with olive oil over low heat until soft and fragrant, but not browned. Add the tomato purée and a pinch of salt, plus a bit of water to rinse out the bottle. Stir in a generous amount of fresh basil. Simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes until slightly reduced.
